Parents are given little insight into what their children are being taught in schools, but Parents have a RIGHT TO KNOW the content and ideologies being exposed to their impressionable kids. With mixed messaging from teacher unions and superintendents about what is/isn’t being taught, it is time for greater transparency. TRANSPARENCY would go a long way toward building a working teacher-parent partnership.
Given the “virtual learning” imposed last year, most teachers formed digital versions of classroom materials already. We simply ask the school board of each school district to require, as part of each teacher’s job, that all classroom materials and lesson plans which CAN be put in a digital format be made available to parents, whether through the school district website or email.
School boards, all members of whom are elected officials on 4 year terms, have the power to make policies governing teacher job requirements. Superintendents have much unofficial power in influencing these decisions as well. Please address our concerns, it is within your power.
