For years our federal government has funded many different wasteful projects by lumping them in with necessary infrastructure. For example, tax payers pay millions to study quail on cocaine and rodents on alcohol. Or almost $5 million studying why people fear dentists and if cheerleaders are more attractive in a group. Another example would be how they lump funding for Planned Parenthood in the same spending bill with funding for veterans benefits, law enforcement, and public schools.
Many times these bills are hundreds or even thousand of pages long and Congress is only given a few hours to attempt to read it. Too often there is no time for amendments to modify the spending bill, and Congress members must approve all, or nothing.
Please sign this petition to ask Representative Thomas Massie and Senator Rand Paul to fight to end the terrible practice of omnibus spending bills. Spending bills should be smaller, simpler, and single issue. They should not lump wasteful spending on ridiculous experiments into the same bill as necessary infrastructure, just so that the wasteful spending gets funded.
END OMNIBUS SPENDING BILLS NOW!
